About A Kurious Life Malas
Malas gently remind us of our abilities to create our own abundance. I hand-tie 108 knots into each mala to carry the intention of the selected crystal combinations. Malas are approximately 22” in length using a combination of primarily 6mm beads.
The skull is the guru bead. The guru bead pays homage to our teachers and reminds us that we are always learning. When we use the malas to meditate by repeating our intention while palpating each bead, we don’t cross over the guru bead. We go back in the other direction to signify constant learning and personal growth.
I use skulls as the guru bead for my malas as a momento mori, a reminder of our mortality and the impermanence of everything, including the stressors and problems we think are enormous.
The tassel is symbolic of lotus roots, reminding us that our greatest strength comes from the muddy and dirty waters below. It connect us with our own strength to find enrichment from the “muck” in our lives.
